360° video floods on social networks

360° video is becoming more and more normal, flooding social networks and our phones. You have probably already watched a 360 video on social networks, a video where you can see everything just by moving your mouse over the image. Some of us may have discovered places so far impossible to approach with a normal camera as we can see on this beautiful video about lions.

The 360 allows the viewer to dive into reality as never before, the immersion is total.

You can also take a look on our website  because we are an audiovisual production company  that makes videos for companies and helps to increase the traffic on your video communication . You can also go take a look to our articles page  for some examples.

Not very long ago, videos of this kind were not very visible on social networks, but it benefited from a lot of help to become the new technological hype.

The explosion of video on social networks

– Facebook: Every day, users watch 100 million hours of videos

– Instagram: 400 million people share stories every day.

– Twitter :  93% of videos are viewed on mobile.

These few numbers show how vital video is on social networks and that it is an integral part of consumer use.

The arrival on the market of cheap cameras:

The first problem with 360° in its early days was the price of cameras which was a brake for many professionals. The introduction of more affordable cameras allows more people to try out this format.

But be careful, you will need a little time of adaptation if you are novice because there are some constraints that doesn’t exist on the “normal” cameras. Indeed, the field of vision is no longer limited, it is enough that a person who goes through there and who does not want to appear on the screen for you to have problems due to image rights.

Virtual reality is increasingly present:

This is perhaps one of the least developed characteristics but has a very strong margin of progression in the future. However, virtual reality is becoming more and more present in our daily lives. We can however mention the VR headset on Playstation that offer a total immersion in the video game or the mk2 offer with its virtual reality tests.

 The 360° video engagement vector?

But what we can mainly remember about the 360 video on social networks is its impact of engagement:  “360° video generates an average of 4.5 times more sharing than more traditional video and a 20% increase in attendance. Click-through and conversion rates are twice as high, and engagement rates are five times as high.” according to the audiovisual agency Firstage at E-Marketing in Paris 2017.

In addition, according to   State of the Video Industry Research Study, “Advertisers and publishers expect 360 video to be one of the top two revenue-generating formats over the next 12 months.”

How to use it for your brand/company?

Many brands have taken over the 360° to promote their products, we can go directly to GoPro and Redbullwho used it mainly for sports purposes at the beginning. But today it covers almost everything:

We now see them, elsewhere than in sports fields, for example many real estate visits are made thanks to 360° videos. They allow potential buyers to visit the property without moving. You can also visit historical monuments.
