1. Talk to your best friend

Have you ever wonder whyyou want to make this film ? And above all, to who you want to talk? While marketing experts will advise you to speak to your ideal customer, they may not be the perfect contact for this exercise. Indeed, it may impress you, you will seek to enhance yourself and, in the end, you will not be natural.

Indeed, it’s actually
your ease on the screen that will increase your strength of conviction.

The advice I give my clients is always the same «come to the shooting with a picture of your best friend». It’s easy to tape it to the wall, or even on a pole on the cameraman’s shoulder… In short, in a place that is clearly visible to you. Then, you only look at this picture.

Talk to him as if he were really there, in front of you, and you were looking to present your offer or your product. And if your language becomes less supported, a little more familiar, it’s not a problem: it’s also in this way that you will appear the closest to those who will watch your film.

2. Manage your energy

Before you start filming, you have to find the right balance between the stress that will make you stutter and tremble and the rush of adrenaline that will inflate your energy.

Mathieu, director, shared some tips with us« breathe and shout ».

In practice, he always asks his speakers to take five deep breaths, through the nose, at the beginning of the filming session. Then he invites them to clap their hands and scream. Loud.

It’s a great way to get loaded and forget your fear. But also to share his dynamism, and his convictions, to those who look at you.

3. Write down key ideas

Laura shoots many presentations for IL EST UNE FOIS. To avoid multiplying catches, it gives tips. First of all to practice articulating. “The old-fashioned way, with a pen in your mouth. It may be ridiculous to see, but it’s very effective.”

Then she encourages them to write down the key ideas that need to be addressed, in order. Thus, there is no risk of losing the thread of his speech. And then the word is more natural than if the whole text were written in advance: just a few words to focus is enough when you know your subject.”

This document can even be held by an assistant next to the cameraman, a bit like a prompter… but less restrictive.

Talking in front of the camera can quickly become like a second skin for you. And don’t worry if you have to do it again several times before you get a perfect result: even the biggest actors need several takes, as you can see on this video. Practice in front of a webcam rather than in front of your mirror, you will save time for the day of shooting. But first, why don’t you give us your favorite articulation exercises?
